This weekend marks the start of the 2024 LGT World Men's Curling Championship. The IWC Arena in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, will host the LGT World Men's Curling Championship 2024 from Saturday, March 30 to Sunday, April 7. Schaffhausen is hosting its first-ever World Curling Championship.

Thirteen of the best men's teams will compete in this tournament, representing their respective national Member Associations.


This event is the first of two global championships that qualify athletes for the Olympics, and there are medals and world titles up for grabs. Seven national Member Associations will automatically qualify for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan-Cortina since Italy has already been selected as the host nation.


During the 2025–2026 season, the remaining competitors will have the opportunity to participate in a Pre-Olympic Qualification Event and/or the final Olympic Qualification Event.

2024 LGT World Men’s Curling Qualification

The LGT World Men's Curling Championship 2024 will feature thirteen teams from the Pan Continental Curling Championships and the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2023.

In November 2023, the Pan Continental Championships took place in Kelowna, Canada. The following nations—Korea, Japan, the United States, New Zealand, and Canada—qualified for the Pan Continental Championships.

Meanwhile, the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships took place in Aberdeen, Scotland. The following nations—Sweden, Italy, Norway, Germany, Netherlands, and Czech Republic—qualified for the Pan Continental Championships.

The hosts, Switzerland, qualified.

2024 LGT World Men’s Curling Format

Twenty round-robin sessions will take place, starting on Saturday, March 30, and ending on Friday, April 5. This will establish the teams ranked one through six. The top two seeded teams advance straight to the semifinals.

Qualifiers for the third through sixth-placed teams will begin at 4 a.m. ET on Saturday, April 6 (3 against 6 and 4 vs 5). The same day at 10 am ET will see the semi-finals. On Sunday, April 7, at 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. ET, respectively, the bronze medal game and the gold medal final will take place.

The Curling Channel will broadcast all of the games. There can be geo-blocking in place. Take note that LGT will host a top shots competition once more. Voting will begin following the championship.
